New North Cemetery Restoration

The Town of Nantucket is seeking a qualified contractor to conserve, repair, and restore approximately 78 headstones at the New North Cemetery. The goal of this project is to return the headstones to sound functioning condition with the least alteration to their historic appearance. The contractor will be required to comply with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Preservation and provide a detailed treatment proposal and report. The contract will be awarded to the lowest eligible and responsible bidder who meets the qualifying factors and offers the lowest total base bid price. • The contractor must have at least 5 years of experience in the conservation, repair, restoration, and cleaning of historic headstones, footstones, and monuments. • The contractor must provide proof of insurance and a bid deposit of 5% of the base bid amount. • The contractor must comply with all applicable state and federal laws, including prevailing wage and OSHA requirements. • The contractor must provide a detailed treatment proposal and report, and must be willing to enter into the Town's standard contract form. • The contractor must be able to provide references for similar work completed in the past 3 years.
