Description

The City of Elk Grove is seeking a qualified contractor to install Class II bike lanes on six city streets, with an optional seventh location if a bid alternate is awarded. The work includes all labor, materials, equipment, traffic control, striping, markings, signage, and required permitting, performed in accordance with the city’s plans, specifications, and California standards. The contract is a fixed‑price lump‑sum with a total estimated value of $156,614, and the contractor must provide a 10 % bid bond and 100 % performance and payment bonds. The project must be completed within 25 working days (30 days if the alternate is awarded), and liquidated damages of $2,800 per day apply for schedule overruns. • Install Class II bike lanes (striping, thermoplastic markings, signs) at six base locations – Apple Mill Dr, East Park Dr, East Taron Dr, Emerald Vista Dr, Heritage Hill Dr, Machado Ranch Dr; optional Black Kite Dr as alternate. • Provide all required traffic‑control, public‑notification, street‑sweeping, and water‑pollution‑control measures, and submit associated submittals (TCP, WPCP, schedule, insurance). • Meet California DIR registration, hold a Class A General Engineering license, supply 10 % bid security, 100 % performance/payment bonds, and maintain required insurance and prevailing‑wage compliance.

Budget estimate

$130,000 – $160,000

The solicitation lists an Opinion of Probable Cost of $156,614 for the full scope (base plus alternate). Considering typical contractor markup, bonding costs, and potential change orders, the net earnings for the contractor are likely to fall between roughly $130,000 (minimum base work) and $160,000 (including the optional alternate). The lower bound assumes only the six base locations; the upper bound reflects the addition of the seventh location and any modest cost variations.
