Description

The City of Coronado is seeking competitive bids to replace an existing diverter pump, partially demolish an existing storm‑drain diversion structure, and install a new pre‑engineered fiberglass pump station (owner‑furnished) with associated valve vault, piping, and electrical upgrades. The scope includes demolition, civil works, installation of a 10‑inch force main, new electrical service, preservation or re‑planting of palm trees, and compliance with storm‑drain best‑management‑practice requirements. The contract is a lump‑sum bid with a 10 % bid bond, performance and payment bonds at 100 %, and a 5 % retainage on each progress payment. The work must commence no later than mid‑February 2027 and be completed within 80 working days, with liquidated damages of $2,000 per day for overruns.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $1,500,000

The engineering estimate for the project is $1,213,400, which serves as the baseline for the bid. Considering typical contractor mark‑ups, bonding costs, and contingency allowances, the likely contract value will fall in the $1.0 million to $1.5 million range. Factors influencing the range include the scope of demolition, the cost of owner‑furnished equipment (which is not reimbursable), prevailing‑wage requirements, and the need for performance and payment bonds.
