The National Park Service intends to award a cooperative agreement to the Hoonah Indian Association to support the Huna Tribal House Programs. The primary objective of this agreement is to strengthen connections between the Huna Tlingit and their traditional homeland through cooperatively developing and implementing various programs associated with the Huna Tribal House. The project focuses on ongoing collaborative planning and operation of the Huna Tribal House, including finalizing a Strategic and Operational Plan, producing interpretive products, and providing interpretive services. The agreement aims to promote tribal involvement in the stewardship of natural and cultural resources, encourage tribal participation in park management, and provide culturally accurate and sensitive interpretive products.
Some key aspects of the project include:
• Cooperatively finalizing a Strategic and Operational Plan for the Tribal House
• Producing interpretive products, such as films and wayside exhibits
• Providing cultural interpretive services at the Huna Tribal House
• Planning and implementing an annual Celebration at the Huna Tribal House
• Developing a series of interpretive elements, such as drums, mats, and regalia, for use in Tribal House interpretation programs
