Description

The US Air Force is conducting a sources sought synopsis to determine the existence of sources that may be capable of satisfying the Government's requirement for F-35 compatible Map Lip Lights. The Map Lip Light is a mission-critical component that provides dedicated, low-signature illumination within the cockpit, enabling the pilot to read maps and other flight documents during night operations without compromising visual acuity or aircraft detectability. The component must integrate seamlessly with the existing F-35 pilot oxygen mask and helmet assembly. Key requirements include adherence to specific Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) compatibility standards and compliance with all F-35 program airworthiness, electrical, and material specifications. Interested parties who believe they have the capability to provide the required Map Lip Lights must submit a capabilities statement that includes company information, business size, and technical capability. • The Map Lip Light must be compatible with the F-35 pilot oxygen mask and helmet assembly. • The component must adhere to specific Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) compatibility standards. • The component must comply with all F-35 program airworthiness, electrical, and material specifications. • Interested parties must submit a capabilities statement that includes company information, business size, and technical capability.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not specify a budget or contract value. However, based on the complexity and specificity of the Map Lip Light component, it is likely that the contract value will be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contract will involve the design, development, and manufacture of a small batch of Map Lip Lights, and that the contractor will need to have specialized expertise and equipment to meet the F-35 program's airworthiness, electrical, and material specifications. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the number of units required, the level of complexity and customization, and the contractor's level of experience and expertise.
