Description

This grant program supports high-risk research in biological anthropology and archaeology. The program provides small awards to investigators to assess the feasibility of a research project, which can then be used as the basis for a more fully developed research program. The proposed activity must be high-risk in nature. Proposals are accepted anytime, and the estimated funding for this program is $150,000, with an award ceiling of $35,000. • The program is open to any type of entity, subject to clarification in the text field entitled "Additional Information on Eligibility". • The award is expected to be used for a short period as it is meant for assessing the feasibility of a research project. • The information gathered may then be used as the basis for preparing a more fully developed research program. • Investigators must contact the cognizant NSF Program Director before submitting a proposal.

Budget estimate

$10,000 – $35,000

The estimated budget for this grant is between $10,000 and $35,000. This estimate is based on the award ceiling of $35,000 and the fact that the grant is meant for assessing the feasibility of a research project, which may require less funding than a full-scale research project. The actual budget may vary depending on the specific proposal and the needs of the research project.
