Description

NASA’s Johnson Space Center is seeking a sole‑source supplier to fabricate high‑precision titanium Ti‑6Al‑4V components for the SWME hardware project. The solicitation is a capability‑statement request; quotes will not be accepted. Interested firms must submit a written capability statement by the deadline to be considered for a potential competitive procurement. The effort will be performed at JSC, and the contract will be awarded under FAR Part 12 (commercial items) to the sole provider, HARBEC Inc, unless the government decides otherwise based on submitted capabilities. • Required material: Titanium alloy Ti‑6Al‑4V, high‑precision machining. • Intended use: SWME (Space‑Based Materials Experiment) hardware. • Procurement method: Sole‑source (FAR 12.102(a)) with a capability‑statement submission. • Submission deadline: 1:00 p.m. CST, 31 August 2026. • Point of contact: Cara Craft (NASA/NSSC). • No quotes accepted; only capability statements. • Performance location: NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The solicitation does not disclose a contract value. High‑precision titanium parts for a NASA space‑hardware program typically command significant budgets due to material cost, machining complexity, and stringent quality requirements. Based on comparable NASA component contracts, a reasonable estimate ranges from several hundred thousand dollars to a few million dollars, depending on part quantity, tolerances, and support services.
