Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is seeking a contractor to develop and characterize specialty Ni alloys using powder bed fusion. The contractor will be required to provide access to an EOS M280 laser powder bed fusion system, develop and optimize new parameter sets for various alloys, and perform mechanical testing on specimens fabricated during the development process. The contract will be for a period of six months, and the contractor will be required to ship all deliverables and process development samples to the Marshall Space Flight Center. Some key aspects of the job include: • Developing and optimizing parameter sets for various alloys, including Ni-201 and other nickel-based superalloys • Performing mechanical testing on specimens fabricated during the development process • Providing access to an EOS M280 laser powder bed fusion system • Shipping all deliverables and process development samples to the Marshall Space Flight Center • Coordinating with NASA technical points of contact to ensure that all work meets NASA's requirements and specifications.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this contract is not explicitly stated in the document. However, based on the scope of work and the requirements for the contractor, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million. This estimate is based on the fact that the contract requires the contractor to provide access to an EOS M280 laser powder bed fusion system, develop and optimize new parameter sets for various alloys, and perform mechanical testing on specimens fabricated during the development process. These activities are likely to require significant resources and expertise, and therefore are likely to be costly. Additionally, the fact that the contract is for a period of six months suggests that the budget will be substantial enough to cover the costs of the contractor's labor, equipment, and materials over that period.
