Description

The Los Alamos National Laboratory is offering a technology licensing opportunity for SiloGetter, a 3D-printed siloxane composite that captures hydrogen. This technology has various applications, including microelectronics packaging, vacuum and scientific instrumentation, and aerospace. The material relies on a palladium-on-carbon catalyst and a companion compound, DEB, to capture hydrogen. The benefits of SiloGetter include its ability to capture more hydrogen per part, print into custom shapes, and replace loose powders and brittle pellets with strong, durable parts. • Captures far more hydrogen per part • Prints into custom shapes by direct ink writing • Replaces loose powders and brittle pellets with strong, durable parts • Highly gas-permeable siloxane base gives hydrogen easy access to the active material • Stable formulation avoids unwanted reactions between the resin and the getter • Adaptable to many geometries and uses

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $1,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate because the document does not provide specific information about the licensing fees or royalties. However, considering the potential applications of SiloGetter in various industries, including aerospace and microelectronics, the budget could be substantial. A rough estimate could be in the range of $100,000 to $1,000,000, depending on the terms of the licensing agreement and the success of the technology in the market. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the scope of the license, the territory covered, and the duration of the agreement.
