Description

The Continuum of Care (CoC) Program is designed to promote a community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness. The program provides funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, states, and local governments to quickly re-house homeless individuals, families, persons fleeing domestic violence, and youth while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused by homelessness. The program also aims to promote access to and effective utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families, and to optimize self-sufficiency among those experiencing homelessness. Key aspects of the program include: * Eligible applicants: nonprofit organizations, states, local governments, and instrumentalities of state and local governments * Available funds: approximately $2.3 billion * Application process: Collaborative Applicants must submit a CoC Consolidated Application, which includes a CoC Application, a CoC Priority Listing, and project applications * Selection criteria: HUD will score the CoC Application portion of the Consolidated Application based on criteria such as the CoC's performance, the quality of the project applications, and the CoC's ability to promote a community-wide commitment to ending homelessness * Award information: HUD may issue up to two conditional funding announcements, and the award amount will depend on the availability of funds and the ranking of the project applications.
