The Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program provides funding to states, U.S territories, federally recognized tribal governments, and local communities for hazard mitigation activities. The program aims to reduce risks posed by natural hazards and promote resilience and adaptation in light of current risks, including those posed by climate change. The program will provide funding for capability- and capacity-building activities, mitigation projects, and management costs. The program has a focus on disadvantaged communities and encourages innovation, partnerships, and the adoption and enforcement of building codes.
Some of the key activities that will be funded include:
• Capability- and capacity-building activities to enhance the knowledge, skills, and expertise of the current workforce
• Mitigation projects designed to increase resilience and public safety, reduce injuries and loss of life, and reduce damage and destruction to property, critical services, facilities, and infrastructure
• Management costs associated with administering and managing award and subaward activities
• Non-financial Direct Technical Assistance to communities to build capacity and capability at the local level
