Recreational Corridor greenways and trails planning

The State of Illinois is providing funding for intergovernmental agreements and grant agreements to support specific projects identified as high priority for Recreational Corridors, focusing on repurposing abandoned railroads. This is the third phase of the DNR-assisted program, targeting non-metro communities and counties that have not participated in previous phases. The proposal should describe a planning process that results in prioritized actions for implementation and include evidence of support from local governments. • The applicant must provide the name and address of the applicant and the name and title of the project manager. • The proposal must be developed by a broad-based coalition of greenway and trail interests and agencies. • The applicant must demonstrate cost-sharing commitments, with a suggested total accumulated cost-share of 25-50% of requested funds. • The proposal must describe a planning process that results in prioritized actions for implementation and include a schedule and budget for the plan. • The applicant must provide evidence of support from local governments for greenway and trail planning.
