The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to Community Teamwork, Inc. for the Spindle City Corps Community Ranger Interns project. The project aims to provide hands-on service opportunities for four diverse inner city youths as Ranger Interns, working 40 hours a week during the summer months and throughout the winter months as opportunities arise and funds allow. The interns will work with park staff, assisting with staffing sites and learning about cultural stewardship with hands-on experience. The project's objectives include developing a generation of skilled workers, educated and active citizens, future leaders, and stewards of natural, historical, and cultural resources. The project will also provide opportunities for youth to learn about the environment, cultural resources, and historical preservation by spending time working on projects in National Parks and gaining job skills through hands-on experience.
• The project will provide full-time paid internships for 4 local youth over 10 weeks.
• The youth will work with NPS and partner professional staff and receive specialized training and career development experiences.
• The program will inculcate professional skills and hold participants responsible for safely working and collaborating on projects as part of a team.
• The project will support the Government's objective to provide opportunities for youth to learn about the environment, cultural resources, and historical preservation.
