The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking industry partners to participate in short-term, collaborative projects within the Grid Research Innovation and Development Center (GRID-C) to accelerate development and deployment of grid integrated power electronics technologies. The selected participants will have access to ORNL's experienced staff and unique equipment and capabilities to demonstrate advanced concepts with the intent to develop and deploy innovative and energy efficient power electronics for electrified grid integration and modernization. The projects will focus on technology areas such as materials and components, embedded controllers, subsystems devices and interfaces, resource integration and management systems, grid systems architecture, and grid modeling and transient analysis. The participants are expected to provide at least 20% cost share, which can be funds-in or in-kind contributions.
• Materials and components for grid devices, power electronics systems, and grid storage devices
• Embedded controllers with integrated advance analog and digital electronics and sensing devices
• Subsystems devices and interfaces, including converters, inverters, controls, and protection
• Resource integration and management systems, including multi-stage converters, software platforms, and algorithms
• Grid systems architecture, including real-time systems modeling and evaluation
• Grid modeling and transient analysis
