The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to Portland State University for the project "Historical Documentation of Middle Village - Station Camp, Lewis and Clark National Historical Park". The project aims to conduct historical research into Middle Village, a unit of Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, and evaluate the national significance of the site to determine if it is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The project will involve assembling copies of available material on the history and cultural significance of Middle Village, conducting additional research, and presenting information to park staff and the public.
• The project will be led by Dr. Doug Deur, who has 22 years of research experience with the National Park Service.
• The project will involve collaboration with the National Park Service and other stakeholders, including the Chinook Indian Nation and the Quinault Indian Nation.
• The project will result in a thematic compilation of available literature and remotely accessible archival information addressing Middle Village, as well as a short written statement of opinion on the National Register eligibility of Middle Village.
• The project will also involve public presentations and the development of a National Register nomination form.
