The National Park Service intends to award a single-source justified cooperative agreement to the California Conservation Corps for the Watershed Stewards Program Interns at Point Reyes National Seashore and Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The project aims to provide opportunities for qualified youth to have a safe, educational experience in watershed restoration efforts. Two interns will assist the San Francisco Bay Area Network Inventory and Monitoring Program with gathering data on fish populations and help with maintaining a DIDSON underwater sonar camera station. The interns will also complete a Watershed Awareness Project and teach environmental curriculum to local students.
• The project will support natural resource management and restoration planning in the park.
• The interns will learn valuable skills in natural resource fields and learn how data are used to support natural resource management.
• The project will help protect park resources for future generations.
• The California Conservation Corps has a well-established reputation for recruiting a diverse economic and ethnic youth workforce and mentoring trainees to produce successful members of society.
