Description

The U.S.-Africa Strategic Investment Program aims to advance America's national interests by promoting market-based, private sector-led growth in sub-Saharan Africa. The program will support projects that strengthen the environment for foreign investment, create sustainable economic growth, and demonstrate clear, measurable benefits to one or more sub-Saharan countries. The program has two strategic focus areas: Critical Minerals Investment and Commercial Diplomacy Acceleration. Applicants must submit a statement of interest (SOI) that includes a table listing critical details, a narrative, and a summary budget. The Department of State will review SOIs and select applicants to proceed to the next stage, which may include consultative program design or submission of a full proposal. Key aspects of the program include: • Critical Minerals Investment: Supporting the responsible development of critical mineral resources in sub-Saharan Africa, including geological mapping, workforce development, and supply chain development. • Commercial Diplomacy Acceleration: Strengthening regulatory frameworks, expanding workforce development, and improving enabling infrastructure to support private-sector investment and economic development in sub-Saharan Africa. • Performance metrics: Applicants must propose using at least one indicator from the APS, where relevant, to measure the performance and impact of the proposed project.
