The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Environment Technologies and Science (SETS) BAA seeks research proposals (or white papers) that advance understanding, modeling, and mitigation of space‑environment effects on DoD systems. Topics include solar‑ionospheric modeling, thermosphere and satellite drag, plasma physics, radiation belt particle effects, and cislunar environment characterization. Offerors will submit white papers for individual Calls; successful white papers may be invited to submit full proposals. Deliverables may include technical reports, software, hardware prototypes, data sets, and publications. Funding is projected at roughly $98.5 M over FY24‑FY31, with at least one award per Call. The effort requires U.S. persons with appropriate security clearances and compliance with SAM registration, export‑control, and data‑rights clauses.
• Open to all responsible U.S. entities (small business, HBCU, etc. encouraged).
• Research areas span space weather modeling, atmospheric drag prediction, plasma chemistry, radiation belt dynamics, and near‑lunar environment.
• Deliverables: reports, software, hardware, data products, prototypes, patents.
• Period of performance and specific budget are defined per Call; the BAA remains active for 8 years.
• Requires SAM registration, UEI, and possibly classified facility clearance.
