Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is seeking a permittee to conduct a vegetation disposal operation on the Tehama Wildlife Area - Durley Flat Allotment. The permittee will be responsible for grazing the premises in a way that is consistent with the overall goals of managing deer winter range, while meeting specific objectives for residual dry matter (RDM) and protecting existing sensitive habitat types. The permit term will be four years and seven months, commencing December 1, 2025, or upon approval of the STATE, whichever is later. The annual grazing period will be four months, starting January 15 each year of the permit term, and ending May 15 each year of the permit term. The permittee will be required to submit a proposal that includes a statement of qualifications, a proposal for each of the eight goals listed in the RFP, a fee proposal, and other required attachments.
• The permittee will be required to have at least 10 years of experience conducting grazing operations on public or conservation easement protected lands.
• The permittee will be required to have the ability to respond to emergencies on the premises within two hours during the annual grazing period.
• The permittee will be required to submit a proposal that includes a plan for achieving the RDM goal, avoiding negative impacts to riparian areas and wetlands, and minimizing livestock trespass onto adjoining properties.
• The permittee will be required to submit a fee proposal that includes the proposed fee per acre per year.
• The permittee will be required to submit a statement of qualifications that describes their knowledge, education, experience, and abilities.
