Description
Steuben County is seeking a fully-certified Code Enforcement Official to enforce the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and State Energy Conservation Construction Code in the Town of Addison, Town of Campbell, and Town of Tuscarora on an as-needed basis. The successful applicant will work under a contract with Steuben County and will not be an employee of the county. The contract term is one year with an option to extend up to four one-year renewal options. The contractor will be paid an hourly rate and for mileage within the specified towns at the county's mileage rate.
Key responsibilities include:
• Issuing building permits
• Monitoring construction of permitted projects
• Addressing code violations
• Record keeping
Applicants must supply a resume, copy of current Code Enforcement Official certification, and a list of New York State-approved in-service code training courses taken in the last three years.
