Description

The Town of Rochester is seeking a qualified contractor to furnish, install, test, and commission a complete fiber optic network interconnecting six municipal facilities. The project includes the installation of a new fiber backbone and all associated lateral connections to each site. The contractor will be responsible for designing and installing a redundant fiber loop topology, installing lateral fiber runs, furnishing all materials, labor, equipment, and incidentals required, and coordinating with the Town and its IT consultant. The project is divided into two components: Component A (Fiber Loop Construction) and Component B (IT Improvements). Proposers may submit a proposal for one component or both. Key aspects of the project include: • Installation of new fiber optic cabling between all locations • Construction of a fiber loop/backbone network connecting all sites • Installation of lateral connections from the backbone to each facility • Furnishing all materials, labor, equipment, and incidentals required • Coordination with the Town and its IT consultant • Design and installation of a new, fully integrated network infrastructure utilizing next-generation Firewalls, Switches, and Wireless Access Points • Preconfiguring network equipment for installation • Installing new network equipment The Town reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to award contracts for each component separately or to a single vendor for both components.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this project is difficult to estimate without more information on the specific requirements and scope of the project. However, based on the project description, it appears to be a significant undertaking that will require substantial resources and expertise. A rough estimate for the budget could be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million, considering the following factors: - The project involves the construction of a fiber loop/backbone network and the installation of lateral connections to each facility, which will require significant labor and materials costs. - The project also includes the design and installation of a new, fully integrated network infrastructure, which will require specialized equipment and expertise. - The Town reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to award contracts for each component separately or to a single vendor for both components, which may impact the overall budget. However, this is a very rough estimate and the actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on the specific requirements and scope of the project.
