The Argonne National Laboratory is seeking proposals for the design, manufacture, testing, delivery, and installation of the High Heat Load Mirror System for the 12-ID beamline. The mirror system should consist of principle components including support structure, vacuum chamber, and mirror supporting mechanisms. The level of technical detail in the vendor’s proposal should be sufficient to determine compliance with the specifications given in this document. The mirror will be located 28.737 m from the straight-section center and will provide a nominal 4.0 mrad deflection for x-rays in the 6–35 KeV range. The mirror requires three motorized motions, in X, Y, and a rotation around the Sagittal direction. The mirror will be mechanically bendable, and the bending mechanism should produce a surface figure that can be varied from flat to elliptical shape with minimal aberrations.
• The mirror system should be designed to minimize the photon loss during the focusing process.
• The mirror coatings should give high reflectivity at the corresponding photon energy.
• The mirror should be in a high vacuum chamber to protect the mirror coating.
• The mirror should have a big angular acceptance to accept the full beam.
• The mirror should have adjustable hard limits to restrict the range of motion once the mirror has been aligned.
