Description

NASA’s Ames Research Center is seeking a sole‑source acquisition of XIMEA’s xiSpec hyperspectral imaging system to support advanced spectral data collection on moving platforms. The effort includes two snapshot‑mosaic cameras (visible and near‑infrared) together with associated cables, lenses, calibration targets, mounting hardware, and software/SDK. The solicitation is limited to capability statements; no quotes are being solicited at this stage. • Acquire one VIS (4×4 mosaic, 460‑600 nm) and one NIR (5×5 mosaic, 665‑960 nm) camera with global shutters and USB‑3.0 interfaces. • Include accessories: USB‑3.0 cables, starter/demo kit (lens, tripod, calibration target, transport case), and trigger I/O cable for synchronized operation. • Delivery as early as possible, with warranty per manufacturer’s standard terms. • The requirement is being pursued via a sole‑source contract under FAR 12.102(a) because XIMEA is deemed the only provider of this specific technology.

Budget estimate

$20,000 – $50,000

The award will likely cover the purchase of two high‑end hyperspectral cameras (estimated $8,000–$15,000 each) plus accessories and integration support (estimated $5,000–$15,000). Therefore a reasonable total contract value falls in the $20,000–$50,000 range. Factors influencing the final amount include vendor pricing, optional warranty extensions, and any required custom integration or software support.
