Description

NASA's Technology Transfer Program is soliciting inquiries from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture, and market a new transparent electrodynamic dust shield (EDS) technology. This technology is designed to remove dust from space and lunar solar cells, as well as other transparent surfaces, by running high voltages through electrodes on the surface. The new coatings operate at half the voltage of existing EDSs while being 90% thinner, making them more versatile and expandable across industries. • The technology is designed for use on transparent surfaces, such as solar cells and other equipment used in space and lunar missions. • The EDS operates at half the voltage of existing EDSs and is 90% thinner, making it more versatile and expandable. • The reduced thickness and lower voltage operation expand possibilities for integrating EDSs onto transparent surfaces across industries. • Interested companies should submit a license application through NASA's Automated Technology Licensing Application System (ATLAS).

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $1,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as it is a licensing agreement and the terms of the license, including the royalties, are not specified. However, considering the potential applications of the technology in the aerospace and defense industries, as well as in other fields such as renewable energy and manufacturing, the budget could be substantial. A rough estimate could be in the range of $100,000 to $1,000,000, depending on the scope of the license and the success of the commercialization efforts. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the type of license (exclusive or non-exclusive), the field of use, and the duration of the license.
