TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY: Portable Slide Staining System for Microscopy (MSC-TOPS-132)

NASA's Technology Transfer Program is soliciting inquiries from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture, and market a portable slide staining system for microscopy. The system is designed to support medical, research, or environmental monitoring and was developed for space-based missions. It is comprised of two primary components: a dispenser with an adjustable reagent sponge delivery system and a slide staining device that traps and seals the specimen slide. The system is self-contained and can be used with commercial off-the-shelf reagents. • The system is designed for handheld use and can be used in conjunction with a high-powered handheld microscope. • The dispenser has an adjustable reagent sponge delivery system that serves as a containment unit for fluids. • The slide staining device traps and seals the specimen slide, which then receives the titrated reagent from the dispenser. • The system is applicable to all known staining procedures for terrestrial field and lab microscopes. • NASA provides no funding in conjunction with these potential licenses.
