Description

The City of Los Angeles, Bureau of Engineering, is seeking a consultant to undertake the project approval and environmental documentation (PA&ED) phase for the Ballona Creek Bike Path Project. The project involves a 1.6-mile multi-use path and 0.4 miles of protected facilities, as well as 2.7 miles of path connections on local streets, 13 trailheads, and eight controlled pedestrian/cyclist crossings. The selected consultant will be responsible for tasks including administration and project management, stakeholder coordination and public involvement, preliminary design phase, and draft and final environmental documentation. The consultant will need to provide a comprehensive understanding of the project, outline their approach, and provide examples of similar projects they have completed. • The project is located primarily parallel to Ballona Creek from Syd Kronenthal Park in Culver City to Venice Blvd/Cochran Ave in the City. • The project will extend the existing Ballona Creek Multi-use Path to the existing 12-mile Expo Bike Path. • The project will provide connections to West Los Angeles, Westwood, and Santa Monica on the northwest and to West Adams, Crenshaw, and Exposition Park/University of South California (USC) on the east. • The project will address a deficiency in the active transportation network in West Los Angeles where the lack of safe direct separated pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure limits access for disadvantaged community members to jobs, housing, schools, commercial retail, and recreational activities.

Budget estimate

$1,500,000 – $3,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the scope of work and the typical costs associated with environmental consulting and engineering services. The project involves a significant amount of work, including stakeholder coordination, preliminary design, and environmental documentation. Assuming an average hourly rate of $150-200 per hour for environmental consultants and engineers, and considering the project duration of 18 months, the total budget could be in the range of $1.5 million to $3 million. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual budget may vary depending on the specific requirements of the project and the consultant's proposal.
