The Utah Valley University is issuing a Notice of Intent to negotiate and award a contract to Community Fabrication for a custom ski and snowboard manufacturing platform and curriculum. The proposed contract action is for products or services for which the University intends to negotiate and award with only one source, as permitted under the authority of the Utah Procurement Code. The goal of this project is to engage students and provide a tangible product they can make in class/lab and take home and use. The custom ski and snowboard manufacturing platform will allow students to create customized skis using adaptable size tooling and vacuum bagging.
• The custom ski and snowboard manufacturing platform will include proprietary tooling and software that allows for custom length, camber, and shape of the ski.
• The supplier will install the equipment and spend ten days training faculty, staff, and students.
• The University is seeking responses from other potential suppliers who can demonstrate the capability of meeting or exceeding the requirements stated in the notice.
• The proposed contract action is for a sole source procurement, but the University is open to considering other options if a qualified supplier can be found.
