The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to the Student Conservation Association for the project titled "Youth Environmental Education Intern at Channel Islands National Park." The project aims to provide a 40-week internship for a youth environmental education intern to work alongside National Park Service employees and gain knowledge and skills in interpretation and education. The intern will assist with interpretative presentations, public education, and curriculum-based education programs, and will help to improve education programs at the park and reach underserved students in the community.
Some key responsibilities of the intern include:
• Delivering education programs and developing materials for use in programs
• Participating in local outreach events and communicating the natural and cultural resources of the Channel Islands
• Streamlining the scheduling of education programs
• Creating graphic designs templates for existing curricula products
• Working in the park visitor center and assisting with visitor information and public education.
