Description

The Small Community Drinking Water Funding Program provides low-interest loans and grants to small disadvantaged communities for drinking water infrastructure improvement projects. The program aims to address human health risks and achieve compliance with federal and state drinking water laws. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, public agencies, tribal governments, and for-profit water utilities. The program provides funding for planning, design, and construction of drinking water infrastructure projects, including treatment systems, distribution systems, and water sources. • Eligible projects include treatment systems, distribution systems, interconnections, consolidations, pipeline extensions, water sources, and water meters. • Loan interest rate of 0% may be available with repayment term up to 40 years or the useful life of the financed assets for construction financing. • The program utilizes the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Policies and annual Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Intended Use Plan (IUP) to administer the program.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $5,000,000

The total estimated available funding for this program is $50,000,000. The estimated amount per award is dependent on various factors, including the number of awards and the specific projects proposed. Based on the information provided, it is difficult to estimate the exact budget for a single project. However, considering the program's focus on small disadvantaged communities and the types of projects eligible for funding, a reasonable estimate for a single project could be between $100,000 and $5,000,000.
