Wellness Program

The City of Anaheim is seeking a proposal for a Wellness Program to provide health and wellness services to its police department. The program should include annual physical fitness and wellness evaluations, biometric screenings, strength and conditioning assessments, and resting and stress EKG tests. The contractor will be responsible for planning and administering the program, including providing a Wellness Director, a physician, and diagnostic equipment. The program should also include services such as stress management, smoking cessation, and injury prevention programs, as well as nutrition and weight management programs. The contractor will be required to provide a comprehensive report detailing program statistics and recommendations for improvement. Key aspects of the job include: • Providing a Wellness Director to coordinate the wellness program • Coordinating and teaching stress management, smoking cessation, and injury prevention programs • Developing and teaching exercise classes and clinics • Planning and administering department-mandated annual physical ability tests • Administering fitness testing following American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines • Teaching nutrition and weight management programs • Coordinating wellness committee meetings to update staff on progress • Creating and promoting an incentive program, as well as services and activities • Having a working knowledge of ergonomics and other safety-related issues to serve on a Safety Committee • Communicating with and coordinating the scheduling of external and City of Anaheim resources • Delivering program services and activities to ensure maximum accessibility and participation • Providing instruction on the proper use of fitness equipment • Participating in the Tactical Strength and Condition Program provided by the National Strength and Conditioning Association • Meeting with police department and City safety staff regularly, and providing a detailed annual report outlining the progress of the program
