The Community Wildfire Defense Grant is a funding opportunity for at-risk local communities and Indian Tribes to plan for and mitigate against the risk created by wildfire. The grant provides funding for two primary project types: the development and revision of Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP) and the implementation of projects described in a CWPP that is less than ten years old. Eligible applicants include units of local government, nonprofit organizations, Indian Tribes, State Forestry Agencies, and Alaska Native Corporations. The grant requires a match of 10% for CWPP development/revision and 25% for project implementation.
• Eligible projects must be focused on reducing wildfire risk to an at-risk community.
• Projects must be located on non-federal lands and/or Trust lands.
• Applicants must have an active System for Award Management (SAM) registration.
• Required match must be met for requested federal funds.
• Complete application must be submitted by the deadline.
