Description

The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) is seeking information on existing component technologies for a future Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft System (C-sUAS) interceptor. The components of interest include seekers, Control Actuation Systems (CAS), batteries, Guidance Navigation Unit/Inertial Measurement Unit (GNU/IMU), and mission computers. Respondents should describe component technologies that are at Technology Readiness Level 5 (TRL5) or greater and have immediate availability for demonstration in a lab environment. The components should be small form factor, capable of being packaged within 40mm – 70mm diameter missiles, tolerant to military environment and launch accelerations of 30G, and scalable to high-volume production at low cost per unit. • The seeker should have a minimum detectable feature size and an effective operating range. • The CAS should have a mechanical architecture, actuation mechanism type, and axis count and configuration. • The battery should have a packaging volume, weight, and voltage range. • The GNU/IMU should have a packaging volume, weight, and power consumption. The submissions will be reviewed by USG personnel and their support contractors, and will be evaluated based on how well the component meets the strategic objective, technical feasibility, and level of innovation.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $10,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as it is a Request for Information (RFI) and not a solicitation for a specific contract. However, based on the components being sought, it is likely that the contract value will be in the millions of dollars. The cost of the components will depend on the specific technologies and quantities required. The USG is seeking information on the cost of the components in small, moderate, and production-level purchases. For example, the cost of a seeker component could range from $10,000 to $100,000 per unit, depending on the technology and quantity. The cost of a CAS component could range from $5,000 to $50,000 per unit. The cost of a battery component could range from $1,000 to $10,000 per unit. The cost of a GNU/IMU component could range from $5,000 to $50,000 per unit. Overall, the total contract value could range from $1 million to $10 million, depending on the specific components and quantities required.
