R--Intent to Award: USGS NADP-NTN Site MT98

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is seeking to award a sole source contract to Montana State University for the operation of the NADP/NTN wet atmospheric monitoring station designated site MT98. The contractor will be responsible for operating a field-located precipitation collection station on a weekly basis, performing measurements, completing reporting forms, packaging samples, and shipping them to the laboratory via FedEx 2nd Day Air. The period of performance will be for a 12-month base period, plus four 12-month option periods. The USGS is aware of no other source that can provide the above services and intends to make an award to Montana State University unless contacted by other vendors who believe they can provide the same service. Key aspects of the job include: • Weekly site visits to collect, process, and ship precipitation samples • Collecting, processing, and transmitting associated data, including precipitation gage records • Performing routine instrument checks, maintenance, and repairs as needed • Operating the NADP/NTN wet atmospheric monitoring station MT98 • Collaborating with the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) and USGS personnel as necessary
