AIM Unit

The AIM Unit will provide a place for voluntary intoxicated individuals to go for care, other than a hospital, working within available resources to meet the needs of individuals struggling with substance use, and the larger community. The selected vendor will operate the AIM Unit on a 24/7 basis, offering adults experiencing alcohol or sedative intoxication a safe place to recover and receive help connecting to ongoing care and treatment options. The vendor will be responsible for providing medical screening, admission process, staffing, and program operations. • The AIM Unit will align with the description of a Sobering Center offered by the 2025 Model Definitions for Behavioral Health Emergency, Crisis, and Crisis-Related Services published by SAMHSA. • The vendor will provide services to meet clients' basic needs during their stay, including continuous access to food, hydration, rest, hygiene, and interpersonal support. • The vendor will develop criteria and policy/procedures for determining if a client requires a higher level of care and for facilitating such a transfer. • The vendor will employ active engagement and harm reduction strategies to create a welcoming and non-judgmental environment that encourages individuals to engage and explore options for continuing support and treatment.
