RFI - Novel or Multifunctional Fibers, Yarns, Coatings/Finishes and Fabrics for Soldier Protection and Comfort (MFFYF)

This Sources Sought RFI seeks information from industry on novel or multifunctional fibers, yarns, coatings/finishes, and fabrics that can improve soldier protection and comfort. The Army DEVCOM Soldier Center wants to capture near‑term (TRL 5‑7+) and far‑term (TRL 2‑4) concepts that combine at least two functional properties such as moisture management, thermal protection, repellency, vector protection, or flame resistance, while being PFAS‑free and meeting DoD safety standards. Submissions must include company details, compliance statements, test data, and physical samples (fabric yardage or yarn cones) to be shipped after the electronic response deadline. No contract will be awarded from this RFI; it is purely for market research and future technology planning. • Targeted technologies: multifunctional textiles that manage moisture, heat, repellency, vector protection, or flame resistance. • Required deliverables: electronic response by 23 Dec 2026, followed by physical sample delivery by early Feb 2027, with test reports and safety data sheets. • Eligibility: Vendors must be able to certify Berry Amendment compliance (or provide a target date), PFAS‑free status, and meet DoD human‑health toxicity requirements.
