Description

The City of Charlotte is seeking a contractor to design and construct upgrades to an existing storm‑water pond at Robert L. Smith Park. The scope includes repairing a breached dam embankment, installing a forebay, upgrading the outlet structure, and constructing a new spillway to improve surface water quality. The project is funded at a total estimated value between $1 M and $5 M and will be awarded as a single‑source construction contract through project completion. • Repair and rebuild the dam embankment to restore pond integrity. • Install forebay and outlet structures to control water flow. • Design and construct a spillway meeting current storm‑water standards. • Provide required bonding (bid, payment, performance) and insurance (auto, general liability, workers’ comp, construction bonds). • Coordinate with Charlotte Storm Water Services throughout design and construction phases.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $5,000,000

The solicitation lists an estimated total project value of $1 M‑$4,999,999. Assuming the contractor’s fee is the primary cost component, the client could expect to earn roughly the full project amount (since it is a construction contract). Therefore a realistic budget range is about $1 M on the low end to just under $5 M on the high end, depending on final design scope, material costs, and any change orders.
