Description

The City of Tuscaloosa is issuing a sealed‑bid invitation to procure emergency lighting, sirens, vehicle up‑fitting components, and related equipment for its police department. Bids must be based on a fixed percentage discount off the manufacturers’ published MSRP, and only approved manufacturers may be used. The contract will be awarded to the lowest compliant bidder and will cover one or more manufacturers listed. • Scope includes emergency lighting, sirens, cargo storage, prisoner transport, technology mounting, and miscellaneous interior/exterior components. • Only products from approved manufacturers (e.g., Blac‑Rac, Code 3, Federal Signal, etc.) are eligible. • Bidders may submit separate bids for each manufacturer or a combined bid for multiple manufacturers. • The solicitation uses a sealed‑bid process with a fixed‑percentage discount methodology rather than item‑by‑item pricing.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

Based on typical costs for police vehicle up‑fitting (lights, sirens, storage modules, etc.), a modest municipal fleet could require equipment valued between $200,000 and $500,000. This estimate assumes 20–30 vehicles with average component costs of $8,000–$15,000 per vehicle, plus a small contingency for accessories.
