The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified master cooperative agreement to Groundwork USA for the 2018 Youth Summit and Training. The theme of the summit is "Building a Better America through Conservation" and will be held at Grand Canyon National Park. The summit aims to deepen the skills of 60 youth leaders and youth ambassadors from 20 American cities, share best practices, and strengthen their connection to American conservation practices. The recipient agrees to provide transportation and accommodations for the youth delegates, present reports on Groundwork NPS job training and service projects, and organize workshops and trainings. The National Park Service agrees to monitor and provide federal oversight of activities performed under this agreement and assist with funding transportation, accommodations, and conference expenses for youth participants.
Key aspects of the project include:
• Completing intensive skill-building trainings to better prepare construction teams for park infrastructure conservation projects
• Learning enhanced statistical sampling practices to better gauge changes in the environment
• Designing restoration and conservation projects with an emphasis on creating greater public access to federally protected lands
• Presenting reports on Groundwork NPS job training and service projects
• Organizing workshops, trainings, and presentations and assembling speakers for the Summit
