The Oregon Department of Education is issuing a Request for Grant Applications (RFA) for the Farm-to-School Grant Program. The program provides funding to eligible entities to help pay the costs of food-based, agriculture-based, or garden-based educational activities in school districts or center-based programs for children in the Child and Adult Care Food Program. The grant amount and duration will be determined based on the application and evaluation process. The grant will be awarded to the highest-ranking applicant(s) based on the scoring methodology and process described in the evaluation section.
Key aspects of the grant include:
• Eligible entities include school districts, public charter schools, and sponsors and programs serving students who participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program or Summer Food Service Program.
• The grant will be used for costs directly associated with educational activities offered to children enrolled in either a public school or public charter school within a school district.
• The grant amount is up to $3,000,000, with a maximum of $750,000 for Capacity Building Mini Grants and the remaining funds for Capacity Sustaining Full Grants.
• The grant duration is 2 years, with all activities to be completed and expenses incurred by June 30, 2027.
• The grant will be evaluated based on criteria outlined in the RFA, including responsiveness, evaluation criteria, and point and score calculations.
• The grant agreement will include terms and conditions substantially the same as those included in the Sample Grant Agreement, with the exception of those terms listed in the RFA.
