Description

The City of Charlottesville is soliciting bids from qualified vendors to provide the Charlottesville Police Department with new law enforcement firearms and accessories, as well as purchase as trade-ins existing firearms. The contract will require the delivery of 120 Glock 45 Generation 5 direct mill 9mm firearms with Holosun 509 RDS, AG BOTF/NTR Sights and 3 magazines, and the trade-in of 130 Glock 45 Generation 5 firearms with night sights and 3 magazines. The contractor will be required to work directly with the designated City Contract Administrator to determine a schedule for providing the new firearms and accepting the trade-ins. The contract will have a term of 120 days from receipt of the purchase order. Some key points to consider are: • The contractor must be an authorized dealer of the listed manufacturer and properly licensed for the sale of weapons. • The contractor must possess and submit the appropriate Federal Firearms License applicable for this lot. • The City will purchase the new firearms and accessories, and trade-in the existing firearms. • The contractor will be responsible for delivering the goods and accepting the trade-ins. • The contract will include provisions for payment, warranties, and termination. Some benefits of this contract include: • The opportunity to provide law enforcement firearms and accessories to the City of Charlottesville. • The potential for future contracts with the City. • The chance to work with a reputable and established government agency. However, some challenges to consider are: • The need to meet the City's requirements for licensing and certification. • The requirement to deliver the goods and accept the trade-ins within the specified timeframe. • The need to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Budget estimate

$80,000 – $120,000

The budget for this contract can be estimated based on the quantity and type of firearms being purchased. Assuming an average cost of $500 per firearm, the total cost for 120 new firearms would be $60,000. Additionally, the trade-in value of the 130 existing firearms could be estimated at $300 per firearm, resulting in a total trade-in value of $39,000. Therefore, the total budget for this contract could be estimated to be around $99,000. However, this is just a rough estimate and the actual budget could vary depending on the specific terms of the contract and the prices quoted by the vendors.
