The U.S. Embassy Yaoundé Public Diplomacy Section announces an open competition for the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund 2026 (AEIF 2026) in Cameroon. This opportunity invites alumni of U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs to propose projects that advance bilateral priorities and strengthen people-to-people ties. All projects must visibly celebrate Freedom250, the 250th anniversary of the United States, by honoring American values of freedom, democracy, and innovation.
Key aspects of the job include:
• Strengthening the capacity and leadership of U.S. exchange alumni in Cameroon and Central Africa to advance peace, security, commercial diplomacy, and inclusive economic growth in alignment with U.S. foreign policy priorities.
• Equipping at least 200 youth and emerging professionals with market-relevant digital and entrepreneurial skills through alumni-led training and mentorship.
• Empowering at least 120 journalists, civil society actors, and community leaders in mining-affected or resource-rich areas to promote ethical governance and transparency in the critical minerals sector.
• Establishing a regional alumni network by convening at least 80 participants from Cameroon and six neighboring countries for a summit and follow-on activities focused on commercial diplomacy, peace, and security, and innovation.
