Description

The Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) is issuing a FY 2026 grant under the Second Chance Act Youth Reentry Program. The funding supports states, local governments, federally recognized tribal governments, and community‑based organizations to deliver comprehensive reentry services for moderate‑ to high‑risk youth before, during, and after release from confinement, and to provide transitional services that help youth successfully reintegrate into their communities. Up to 16 awards may be made, each with a ceiling of $750,000, for a total estimated funding pool of $12.44 million. Applications are accepted electronically from 9/25/2026 through 11/2/2026. • Target applicants: state, county, city/township governments, Native American tribal governments, and nonprofit organizations (both 501(c)(3) and non‑501(c)(3)). • Purpose: comprehensive youth reentry services, including case management, education/vocational training, mental health and substance‑abuse treatment, family reunification, and community‑based support. • Funding instrument: Grant (CFDA 16.812 – Second Chance Act Reentry Initiative). • Number of awards: 16; award ceiling $750,000 each. • Required submission: electronic application via the DOJ’s Grants.gov portal; no cost‑sharing required. • Evaluation: competitive selection based on technical merit, organizational capacity, and alignment with program goals.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $750,000

The award ceiling per grant is $750,000, with a total estimated funding pool of $12.44 million for 16 awards. Assuming typical award sizes range from modest pilot projects to fully funded program implementations, a realistic budget range for a successful applicant would be roughly $100,000 to $750,000. Lower‑end awards may fund limited‑scope services or partial program components, while the maximum ceiling supports full‑scale, multi‑service reentry initiatives.
