Description

The Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) is issuing a FY 2026 funding opportunity to support the establishment of new or the enhancement of existing Family Treatment Courts (FTCs). FTCs provide intensive judicial monitoring, substance‑use treatment, and related services to parents involved with child‑welfare systems due to abuse, neglect, or other parenting challenges. The program seeks state, local, tribal, and municipal entities to design, implement, and evaluate FTC models that improve outcomes for children, parents, and families, with a focus on addressing opioid, stimulant, and other substance‑use disorders. Up to 11 awards may be made, with a total estimated funding pool of $9.02 million and a maximum award ceiling of $850,000 per recipient. Applications are accepted electronically between October 8 and November 16 2026. • Target applicants: State, county, city/township governments and federally recognized tribal governments. • Funding instrument: Grant (CFDA 16.838 – Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and other Substances Use Program). • Expected deliverables: Development or expansion of FTCs, provision of treatment services, data collection, and outcome reporting. • Evaluation: Projects must demonstrate measurable improvements in child safety, parental substance‑use recovery, and family reunification. • Reporting: Awardees will be required to submit periodic progress and final performance reports to OJJDP.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $850,000

The total estimated funding is $9.02 million for up to 11 awards, with an award ceiling of $850,000 per recipient. Assuming competitive distribution, typical award amounts are likely to range from $500,000 to the maximum $850,000, depending on the scope of the FTC model and the applicant’s capacity. Smaller jurisdictions may receive lower amounts, while larger state‑wide initiatives could secure the full ceiling.
