Description

The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM CBC) is seeking proposals for a Cornerstone Initiative Request (CIR) to establish specific melt and remelt capabilities within the domestic supply base. The objective is to address the inadequacy by establishing a capacity of 30,000 Metric Tons (MT) non-ferrous and ferrous primary melt output annually (combined) and at least 14,000 MT Non-Ferrous and 30,000 MT Ferrous remelt output annually. The period of performance is estimated to be 60 months. Key aspects of the proposal include: • Establishing melt and remelt capabilities within the domestic supply base • Meeting the required capacity of 30,000 Metric Tons (MT) non-ferrous and ferrous primary melt output annually (combined) • Meeting the required capacity of at least 14,000 MT Non-Ferrous and 30,000 MT Ferrous remelt output annually • Completing specific milestones for incremental payments • Potential for a non-competitive follow-on production OTA after a successful prototype

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $50,000,000

The estimated budget for this opportunity is difficult to determine due to the lack of specific information on the contract value. However, considering the scope of the project, which involves establishing melt and remelt capabilities for ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, and the period of performance of 60 months, the budget could be substantial. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the project, the required capacity, and the incremental payments upon completion of specific milestones. A rough estimate could be in the range of $10 million to $50 million, but this is highly speculative and should be used as a rough order of magnitude.
