Description

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is seeking proposals for the development, testing, and deployment of a mobile and transportable microreactor system. The system should be capable of providing resilient, long-duration, carbon-free electrical power to support DHS missions. The proposed system should be transportable and mobile, enabling deployment at designated DHS sites and redeployment to disaster or contingency environments as operational needs evolve. The system should have a minimum core life of 5+ years without refueling and be able to deliver functioning microreactors before December 31, 2028. Key deliverable attributes include 1-5 MWe continuous electrical output, minimal site preparation and onsite operation, and compliance with NRC or DOE/DoD authorization pathways. • The system must be capable of operating in both transportable and mobile modes. • The system must be able to provide stable, high-quality power under varying load conditions. • The system must be able to integrate with DHS microgrids and electrical infrastructure. • The system must be able to operate autonomously with minimal human supervision. • The system must be able to respond automatically to off-normal and emergency conditions.
