Request For Information for Peer Mentor Program

The County of Los Angeles, Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), is seeking information from organizations with experience in providing peer mentor services to youth. The program aims to connect DCFS youth between the ages of 10 to 17 years old with adult mentors who have had similar experiences, to provide guidance, support, and system navigation assistance. The services will include weekly in-person engagement, coaching to staff, individualized service connections, and data collection to measure success. Organizations must demonstrate their capacity to deliver comprehensive operational management of services across Los Angeles County, create meaningful opportunities for youth to build and rebuild relationships, and provide structured supervision and support for peer mentors. Some key requirements and services include: • Demonstrated experience in mentoring youth in areas such as employment, education, housing resources, mental health treatment, and substance use disorder treatment • Capacity to deliver comprehensive operational management of services across Los Angeles County • Creation of meaningful opportunities for youth to build and rebuild relationships and lifelong support • Provision of structured informal activities, such as arts and crafts, personal and leadership development, cooking and meal prep, life skills, social outings, community events, and permanency and transition planning • Support for foster youth advocacy • Maintenance of a flexible 40-hour work schedule for peer support staff • Demonstration of scheduling flexibility for peer support staff and connections to community partners • Collection of quantitative data analysis and measurement of program outcomes
