Description

The Bob Sikes Fishing Pier is a key public access facility and community landmark on the Santa Rosa Sound side of Pensacola Beach, serving residents and visitors as a popular destination for fishing and recreation. Due to age, marine exposure, and structural wear, the pier requires targeted rehabilitation to ensure continued safety and functionality. This project will restore and enhance the pier through comprehensive substructure repairs, including implementation of cathodic protection systems to mitigate corrosion and extend the structure’s service life. Repairs will address deterioration of piles, caps, and framing elements to maintain structural integrity and public safety. The project also includes ADA upgrades, lighting improvements, and handrail enhancements to improve accessibility, visibility, and overall user safety. Some key aspects of the project include: • Comprehensive substructure repairs • Implementation of cathodic protection systems • ADA upgrades • Lighting improvements • Handrail enhancements • Potential demolition of the final spans of the pier The project is intended to preserve the pier as a safe, accessible, and sustainable public asset for long-term community use.

Budget estimate

$5,000,000 – $15,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the scope of work and the type of construction involved. The project involves the rehabilitation of a fishing pier, which includes substructure repairs, ADA upgrades, and other improvements. The cost of such a project can vary widely depending on the size and complexity of the pier, as well as the materials and labor required. However, based on industry benchmarks, a rough estimate for a project of this type could be in the range of $5 million to $15 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the project will require significant structural repairs, as well as upgrades to meet ADA standards. The actual budget will depend on the bids received and the final contract award.
