STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK
Architectural & Engineering Solicitation
Project Number and Title: 1573 –Biotech Accelerator Flex Lab
SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking qualifications for the full design services (programming, design, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration), of an architect / engineering team for the renovation of 3rd floor space in the Biotech Accelerator building into a flex laboratory space.
The CNY Biotech Accelerator at Upstate Medical University, is located at the corner of Irving Ave. and E. Fayette St. in Syracuse, NY. It is a 52,000+ SF facility inclusive of wet labs, Department of Pathology Molecular Genetics Lab, shared equipment areas and a 250-seat theater. The first and second floors of CNYBAC contain (7) 900 SF closed labs with administrative, storage and wet lab bench space which are occupied by startup companies in the health-tech, pharmaceutical, biologic, and medical device fields. This project will promote rehabilitation of underutilized administrative space on the East end of the 3rd floor of CNYBAC into flexible mini wet lab space for occupancy by early to mid-stage approved client companies. This flexible lab space will house multiple different startup companies that will be charged for the portion of the lab they select/occupy. This configuration will allow these growing companies to strategically utilize their limited funding to gain access to a professional laboratory environment for a fraction of the cost of a full laboratory.
There will be no formal site visit nor will tours of the facility be given prior to the receipt of responses to the RFQ.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in design of academic/medical research laboratories for both the architectural firm and it’s team members is required.
Request for Qualifications (RFQ) are attached below and may be downloaded by all firms interested in responding to this advertisement.
