Description

The ARPA‑H Technology Integrator and Accelerator (TIGAR) Innovative Solutions Opening seeks early‑stage, high‑risk/high‑impact concepts that enable temperature‑flexible biopreservation of tissues, organoids, organs and engineered systems. Up to $2 million in funding is available per award for an 18‑month effort, with a two‑phase structure (Phase 1 and Phase 2) and a mandatory solution‑video submission followed by a full proposal. Proposals must demonstrate how their technology will allow storage of ≥1 cm³ tissue for ≥30 days at practical temperatures (‑80 °C, ‑20 °C, 4 °C, or ambient) while preserving functional viability. Eligible entities include commercial firms, universities, non‑profits, and small businesses; foreign participation is limited by U.S. security and export‑control rules. Evaluation criteria emphasize scientific merit, team capability, alignment with ARPA‑H mission, and cost realism.

Budget estimate

$1,500,000 – $2,000,000

The solicitation caps each award at $2 million for an 18‑month project, so the expected total budget per successful bidder will fall between roughly $1.5 million (conservative estimate for smaller scoped projects) and the maximum $2 million. Factors influencing the exact amount include the scope of work proposed, the proportion of cost‑share or in‑kind contributions, and the phase‑wise funding structure (Phase 1 may receive a smaller portion with Phase 2 funding contingent on performance).
