Description
The Seeding Critical Advances for Leading Energy technologies with Untapped Potential (SCALEUP) Ready program provides funding for innovative energy research and development (R&D) that complements ARPA-E's primary focus on early-stage transformational energy technologies. The program aims to support the development of technologies that have the potential to be disruptive in the marketplace and can be meaningfully advanced with a modest investment over a defined period. The program will provide funding for pre-commercial scaling projects that can establish practical performance and cost parameters, integrate technologies with broader systems, provide extended performance data, and validate the manufacturability and reliability of new energy technologies.
• The program is open to a wide range of applicants, including small businesses, educational institutions, and nonprofits.
• The program will provide funding for projects that have significant technology risk, aggressive timetables, and careful management and mitigation of associated risks.
• The program will support the development of technologies that can be widely adopted and displace existing technologies from the marketplace or create entirely new markets.
